2016 Trip - Stats, Highlights, Awards

Highlights

  • Weather (not a highlight exactly) was perhaps the most variable of any trip on record. Sunny and warm one day; cold and rainy another; and stormy in between. Needed fires two days to keep warm. Fortunate to get a consistent nice day for the trip to The North.
  • Joe's 30th consecutive trip; Bill's 25th; and Andy's 40th.
  • 25th Consecutive trip to Flindt Landing.
  • The passing of collie Gus.
  • New final day meal - Baked "fried" walleye; creamy, cheesy mashed potatoes.
  • Continued good (but not great by comparison with recent years) 18"-plus walleye catches - 16 this year.
  • Andy's 27" (7.5#) walleye - largest walleye ever caught by the group.
  • All keepers 17"-plus.
  • Mike's eight walleye catch off the dock the last day.
  • Beer selection includes Zombie Dust!
  • YOGA!

  • Gold: Andy - 27" (7.5#)
  • Silver: Joe - 24" (5#)
  • Bronze: Bill - 22" (4#)

Pike King:
  • No one - No pike caught over 25"

Species Award: Andy (walleye, pike, perch)

Walleye/Pike Index: Cannot be calculated this year

"Good Egg" Award: Mike (resurrected after 25 years) - awarded for overall display of teamwork, unselfish boat conduct, and all-around good attitude

Travel Day, Some Travel Stats

Awake to 48 degrees, but clear and no wind. Float plane expected at 6:00. Actual is 6:30. Smooth flight. Nice weather (thanks!).
